Day 01 Begin Your Tour | Arrive Cape Town
Welcome to your Cox and Kings 'South African Adventure' tour! Your Cox and Kings representative greets you at the 'meeting point' at the exit after immigration and customs and transfers you comfortably to your hotel (check in after 1400 hrs). The rest of the evening is free to explore Cape Town on your own. (D)
Day 02 In Cape Town | Orientation Tour Including Table Mountain
Today, take an orientation tour of Cape Town. Drive to the unforgettable Table Mountain, taking a cable car to the top (weather permitting) for sweeping views of the city of Cape Town, 'the fairest Cape in the whole circumference of the world'. Later, embark on a guided Cape Peninsula tour. First drive down to Hout Bay, a picturesque fishing village renowned for its arts and crafts, and for being the centre of the Snoek (fish) industry. Next cruise to Seal Island (weather permitting), to see Cape Fur Seals that inhabit the area alongside the rare Black Cormorant. Then, visit Cape Point, the most southwesterly point of Africa. On the return, stop at Boulder's Beach, the jackass penguin colony, where a thriving colony of penguins will win you over with their charm. Finally, visit Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens, regarded as one of the best seven botanical gardens in the world. (B, D)
Day 03 Onto Winelands | Stellenbosch City Tour
Today, depart to Stellenbosch, via the scenic Helshoogte Pass, the heart of the South African Wine Industry, boasting great beauty and culture that is steeped in South African history. Walk down the canal-lined avenues, in the shade of giant oak trees and beautifully preserved historic buildings. Coffee shops, galleries, antique shops and wine bars spill onto the sidewalks. An air of quiet intellectualism and wine-making history abounds in this university town. With the sheer vastness of wine estates on offer, you are truly spoilt for choice when you enjoy your final winetasting of the day in Stellenbosch. (B, D)
Day 04 Onto Oudtshoorn | Ostrich Farm
Today, travel via Du Toitskloof Pass to Worcester. Continue through the Klein Karoo to Oudtshoorn, the 'Ostrich capital'. Visit an Ostrich Farm for the ultimate Ostrich experience. Witness the various stages of an Ostrich's life – from incubation to adulthood. If you have the courage, you can even ride a full-grown ostrich. (B, D)
Day 05 Onto Knysna | Guided Tour Cango Caves | Cango Wildlife Ranch | Sundowner Cruise
Today, take a guided tour of the Cango Caves with its mesmerizing stalagmite and stalactite formations. Next, see the famous Cheetah and the Crocodile Park at the Cango Wildlife Ranch. Continue onto the quaint town of Knysna, known as the 'Oyster Capital,' nestled on the banks of a beautiful lagoon in the heart of the Garden Route. Mellow down with a sundowner cruise on the lagoon. Day 06 Onto Sun City
Early this morning, drive to George Airport for your flight to Johannesburg. On arrival in Johannesburg, drive to the enticing and vibrant Sun City Resort. Deep in the heart of the bushveld, at the heart of an ancient volcano, lies sensational Sun City. For the rest of the evening enjoy the wide array of fantastic entertainment on offer. (B, D)
Day 07 In Sun City | Optional Pilanesberg National Park
Today the entire day is free to enjoy the wonders of the 'Lost City' on your own. Choose from a plethora of activities - explore the video arcades, cinema complex, gaming rooms or spend quality time shopping for attractive souvenirs. Alternately, take our optional game drive into the nearby Pilanesberg National Park, home to the 'Big Five' (lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard) as well as giraffe, zebra and a variety of antelope. Day 08 Onto Durban | City Tour
Today, drive to Johannesburg Airport for your flight to Durban. On arrival, get drawn into the rich cultural heritage of Durban. Explore the temples, churches, architecture and the sights and sounds of this unique city. Take a peek inside the magnificent Emanuel Cathedral or walk among the pavement hawkers selling everything from fruit to traditional African face masks. Leaving the market, travel to the beautiful Botanic Gardens. Enjoy this oasis of lush greenery and tranquillity in the heart of a bustling city. (B, D)
Day 09 In Durban Ushaka Marine World Sea World Aquarium | Shakaland Cultural Experience
This morning, visit Ushaka Marine World-Sea World Aquarium. Experience the Sea World and Dolphin World, comprising a saltwater aquarium with indoor and outdoor displays and exhibits, the iconic cargo shipwreck and the largest dolphin stadium in Africa. Get entertained with a fully guided 'edutainment' tour highlighting unique Indian and Atlantic Ocean marine life and Dolphin, Seal and Penguin show. Later, drive to Zululand passing the rolling hills of sugar cane fields and forest plantations. Feel the pulsating rhythm of Africa as you re-live the excitement and romance of the days of Shaka, King of the Zulu tribe. It is the oldest "Zulu Cultural Village" in Zululand, originally built as scenery for the movie "Shaka Zulu". Experience true cultural interaction with the people of Shakaland. Enjoy the sight of assegai-wielding warriors and learn the fascinating secrets of Sangomas; spear making, tribal dancing and beer making ceremony. (B, D)
Day 10 Onto Johannesburg | Guided Gold Reef City Tour
This morning, take a flight back to Johannesburg. On arrival, proceed on an exciting guided tour of Gold Reef City, an operational gold mine turned into a theme park. Absorb the atmosphere of the early 1900's and gather precious nuggets of information about the history of the mineral that built this city. The Gold Reef City tour includes a visit to the underground workings of a gold mine on level 5, seeing the molten metal being poured into a mould to form a bar of gold, followed by the thrilling Siyagida African Dancers in molten action. Watch how coins were pressed in the early days of Johannesburg. Have your photo taken in period costumes, down a pint at the saloon or amble through the animal farm. (B, D)
Day 11 Homeward Bound
